Course Objectives
  • Understand the key principles and concepts of Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM).
  • Identify and assess acute malnutrition in emergency contexts.
  • Plan and implement effective interventions for the prevention and treatment of acute malnutrition.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with relevant stakeholders in a humanitarian response.
  • Apply a holistic approach to address the nutritional needs of vulnerable populations in emergency settings.
  • Develop skills in monitoring and evaluation to assess the impact of IMAM interventions.

Module 1: Introduction to IMAM 
  • Overview of acute malnutrition in humanitarian emergencies
  • Principles and key components of Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition 
Module 2: Assessment and Screening 
  • Anthropometric measurements and interpretation
  • Identification and classification of acute malnutrition 
Module 3: Treatment Protocols 
  • Therapeutic feeding programs
  • Micronutrient supplementation
  • Breastfeeding support and counselling 
Module 4: Prevention Strategies 
  • Community-based nutrition programs
  • Infant and young child feeding practices
  • Food security interventions 
Module 5: Coordination and Collaboration 
  • Working with health professionals and community health workers
  • Coordination with other sectors (water, sanitation, hygiene, etc.) 
Module 6: Monitoring and Evaluation 
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Impact assessment and reporting 
Certification
Participants will be issued Digital Certification after successful completion of the training.
